375ml capped bottle into Night Shift stemware. Shared with schen9303.

Nose is molasses, tobacco, chocolate, fudge, anise and booze. Mellow and soft but rich. Beer opens pineapple and coconut. Chocolate, sweet soy sauce, molasses and fudge in the middle with a slight booziness floating in the back. More molasses and fudge at the end coupled with a subtle coconut creaminess. Delicious. Body is full with low carbonation. Viscous and rich on the palate and goes down messy with a lingering aftertaste.

This is awesome. Better than the Apple Brandy version though barely. Definitely worth trying.

when i think of finback, i think of cloudy hoppy beer and unique kettle sours. i do not think of huge stouts, but after our visit there last week, i have a new way of thinking, this, and its apple brandy cousin, were just a couple of the exquisite high gravity dark beers we had in here, well ahead of the curve, and some of the most memorable from our entire visit to new york! this one has coconut, pineapple, and orange zest in it, and it is aged in bourbon barrels. the immediate presence of the zesty orange along with the whiskey give it an old fashioned kind of vibe, especially with the alcohol that is evident here. the dark malts are huge but nuanced, roast and coffee, dark chocolate fudge of high quality, and some molasses thats kind of sweet and bitter at the same time. the coconut and pineapple seem fused together in this, they rise and fall at the same time, and they are accent flavors, not drivers, which i appreciate in this day and age of my adjunct is bigger than yours. they add a nice punch of flavor to the middle of this though, and seem to lighten the whole thing up. more bourbon than barrel, but its not too much. really flavorful and mellow beer, doesnt drink as strong as it is, and a cool mix of flavors i have not known in a beer like this before. extremely well done, but personally i liked the apple brandy edition even more!

Very tasty, the fruit is well integrated. Lots of coconut as you would get from an intense barrelling. A Big mouthfeel. On tap at the source. Fruit and zest makes it a seasonal IS.
