16oz. capped bottle into a Brooklyn Brewery snifter.
Pours super dense and dark. No head. Thick like motor oil. Nose is chocolate, fudge, vanilla, marshmallow, brown sugar, and barrel. SUper aromatic. Very enticing. Beer opens vanilla bean, chocolate, fudge, and blackstrap molasses. Some sweet soy sauce, maple syrup, more fudge and chocolate in the middle. A get a tickle of pepper in the back that mixes nicely with waves of booze and barrel character. More chocolate, vanilla cream, and molasses at the finish. A real bold one. Body is full with low carbonation. Thick, almost chewy on the palate and goes down hot, oily, and viscous. Goes down boozy with a long, lingering, sticky finish. This one really announces itself in the body.
I can't be convinced that there's pear somewhere in this one. That being said, pretty delicious.
