Triple IPA dry-hopped with Citra Cryo, Citra, Sabro Cryo and Motueka hops. A spectacular juice bomb displaying taste notes of ripe oranges, candied peaches, pineapple colada, and barely any booziness detected on each sip.

Always good to have a new triple IPA from Finback in my glass. These guys generally do really well within the confines of the big-and-boozy IPA, and honestly most of them don't even taste as strong as they are, making their work in this style quite dangerous indeed. This one was canned 2/14/21 and features Citra Cryo, Citra, Sabro Cryo, and Motueka, which seems like a really enjoyable and rather complex combo.
The pour is very solid, as expected. Chalky and hazy-opaque with a healthy look to it. Creamy orange color is topped off with a generous dollop of eggshell-white foam with a slight hint of off-white in there. Decent, lazy lacing show as it slowly fades to a modest, single-finger ring with good legs and surface coverage. No real complaints here.
The nose is a little more alcohol-forward than some of their others in this general style, but I feel it's appreciable and does bring with it some more intense and evocative hoppy elements as well. Strong herbal component with hefty pineapple, mango, papaya, tangelo, and grapefruit rind, bolstered by a hint of coconut and dankness. Notes of grass, bright tangerine flesh, and lime zest really come through as this warms a bit. A very solid smelling TIPA with a good amount going on. Perhaps not as complex as I thought it'd be, but I do think Citra and Sabro (particularly the Cryo Citra) do a great job here playing off one another. About a month ago, I had another similar beer from these guys also featuring these two Cryo varietals which had a pretty similar nose, so I feel confident in saying they are an excellent pairing.
Flavor is strongly tropical with waves of mango and ripe papaya that work wonderfully with the lighter notes of coconut and citrus. Touches of herbs and grassiness with a tinge of dankness start poking out as well once it gets closer to room temp. A bit creamier and denser than some other TIPAs, but in line with a lot of Finback's output in particular, Stellar Waves carries itself well with a heady body and medium carbonation. The finish holds a semi-firm bitterness tht lingers slightly, but most of the flavor is fruit-forward with a hint of dankness here and there. Definitely worth a look like most of FB's bigger IPAs.
