Pours incredibly dark and think, minimal dense head. Massive chocolate and peanut aroma mingles with espresso and bourbon barrel. Peanut and vanilla hit your palate at first, followed by espresso. Bourbon barrel aging melds the flavors nicely. Marshmallow adds to a creamy texture. Overall an amazing BA beer.

Drank from a 1 pint (16 fl. oz.) bottle purchased at Craft Beer Cellar, Belmont, MA
Aged in bourbon barrels 2021
Served in a tulip

The beer poured a super dense and viscous, dark brown/black hue. Very reminiscent of used motor oil. A thin, frothy, saddle brown film topped the body, but it quickly transformed into a lasting, medium sized collar. Some larger sized particles floated to the top of the liquid then sank to the bottom just as quickly. After each of the first few sips, spotty dots of lacing trickled down the glass.

The aroma was outstanding. Coffee notes came through big time. Medium roast coffee perhaps. Lots of peanut butter as well. Good dose of brown sugar sweetness. Vanilla was also apparent. The marshmallow was unfortunately lost of me, but this ingredient is usually difficult to pick out in most beers. Rich and malty. Caramel malts were noticeable. Bit of roasted malt character too. Boozy bourbon notes were also detectable. The vanilla and the bourbon intensified as the beer warmed.

The flavor profile was nearly as impressive. Dark roast coffee notes came through strong. Loads of freshly roasted, freshly ground peanut butter too. Malty and robust up front. Nice melding of caramel and roasted malt notes. Vanilla was noticeable in the center. Bourbon appeared here as well and intensified as the beer moved along the palate. Notes of roast, oak and booze/bourbon appeared on the back end and carried into the finish.

Outstanding mouthfeel. The beer was super creamy and viscous. Completely full bodied for the style. The liquid contained an ultra fine, fairly subtle effervescence that turned frothy and slick on the palate.

Barrel Aged Marshmallow Drip is an outstanding pastry stout with an amazingly rich and intense aroma and flavor profile, and a mouthfeel to match. The Blueberry variant was equally as good, and now I look forward to trying the Banana variant too.

Decent appearance, with the exception of some very chunky floaties that you can see both plopping unattractively from the bottle and slowly sinking into the body.

Wonderful aroma: rich, semi-sweet bourbon, coffee, vanilla, molasses, alcohol, peanut butter, red grape, toffee, honeycomb, prune. It smells very potent, but absolutely delectable.

Equally big and rich on the palate. It doesn't quite hide the alcohol, but it's in no way unpleasant. Brown sugar, toffee, molasses, chocolate, vanilla, cream, coffee, toast, honeycomb, peanut butter (primarily on the back third). As with the nose, the peanut butter is quite restrained; it's a flavored stout that has complementary peanut butter, instead of being a peanut butter-focused beer.

Thick; full bodied; chewy.

This is an impressive stout by any measure. Very well done.
