smoothie type sour here, thick and kind of gnarly in texture, but really highly fruited and with great flavor, mango and passion fruit, lactose too, a good pint can to share, which is what i did with my brother, and a good morning beer, a stand in for orange juice, its that fruity, and frankly no more acidic, that element is tempered by all the fruit and the lactose, but its not too sweet either, very new school overall, im not in love with this style, but as they go this is one of the good ones. almost electric orange looking, not pulpy per se, like i dont see pieces, but this one is dense for sure, no real head but some carbonation to it, pure juice. the nose and taste are the same, sweet and tart, easy to place ripe mango and tangy passion fruit, they do so well together and there are about equal amounts of both to my palate, juicy drippy sweet mango first, a nice moment of overlap, and then more of the passion fruit late with the souring, which is middle of the road, lightly lemony, fairly clean, enough fruit sugar and milk sugar for this not to be all that sour. its not overdone on the lactose, to its credit, and its not all packed with vanilla and marshmallow, which for some reason is still on trend, so its really about the fruit, and its robust as heck but seems natural enough, its not candy or anything. some grain body i suppose but very little appreciable malt in the flavor, fruit body too, not super beery, but very tasty, undeniably so. long on the palate after the swallow, peak tang right at the end, passion fruit pops, tropical and fun and kind of low brow in an appealing way, not over marketed or gimmicky to me, which is kind of the standard with these. leave it to finback to do it better than most. good start to a very beery few days with my brother!
