This version is aged on Catocin Creek rye whiskey barrels.
From a bottle, pours a cloudy murky copper/brown color with almost zero carbonation or head. The base beer is much lighter than this so the barrel really took this to task on color. The nose is very sweet, and at first all you get is alcohol. Whiskey oak, vanilla, Belgian yeast, lots of spice, and a bit of orange.
The flavor is, well mostly booze, but wood, whiskey oak, citrus, vanilla, caramel, christmastime spice. As it warms it thins out a little, a bit watery. Could benefit from more carbonation.
Why does this need to be 15%?
