500ml bottle as a birthday gift:
Light golden & clear with a thumb sized, foamy white head on top that holds better than expected.

Bitter hops and malts upfront with a bit of sweetness following this and some honey too although this wasn't as strong as I would have expected for the style. There is some floral notes and a little citrus, then as the beer opens up more honey comes through. The smell includes a few fruits and a lightly hopped aroma, all of which are well balanced.

Lot of sweetness to the taste with plenty of honey, more so than with the nose, and a good mix of herbs and floral flavours coming through as well. The beer seems light with a citrus blend and some biscuit malts along with a few hops too.

Medium & smooth tasting and definitely sweet, almost refreshing even. There is a slightly sticky feel right at the end though but nothing overboard and the beer is easy to drink. There is a few hints of bitter at the end with a dry sweetness.

Fairly average beer really and one took a little time to open up but also started to fade before I had finished it. The beer was sweet and featured a lot of honey as you would expect but other than this and some bitterness through I don't think it had particularly much going for it sadly.

Poured from a 33cL bottle into a cervoise glass. Best before December 2011.

A: Towering white head fizzes and dominates the otherwise unassuming beer; impressive retention. Champagne-coloured and very clear, small clouds of bubbles persist from the bottle of the glass.

S: Sour, lagered grains. Floral citrus and just a touch of honey.

T: Light and lemony. Any heather is detectable only on the vegetal aftertaste, but a honeyed sweetness is shot through the main body, if only briefly, giving the illusion of lemonade.

M: Crisp, clean, and light.

O: Great for a summer's day, but not for a cooler day indoors (how I drank it). Not my favourite Black Isle -- and perhaps not my favourite style either -- but a worthy product. Only recommended for casual patio consumption.

Poured into pint.
Pours slightly hazy orange/golden beer, thin off-white head, low retntion.
Sniff aroma of heather honey, floral tones.
Taste - citrus, honey, malt base.
Light body, soft carbonation. Decent golden ale.
