I sampled the puffer ale mainly because of my love for the anceint Scottish TV comedy "The Vital Spark".
The beer poured a slightly dark amber brown colour with a decent off white head that quickly dissapeared to suds.
The nose is mainly dominated of hops with a hint of malts with cirus fruit and a nice blend of spices, pleasant but slightly odd for a Scottish beer. The hops progress through to the taste with a hint fruit and a slight pepper after-note to leave a clean refreshing pint with a slightly dry after taste.
The beer is a bit light on the mouth, but this is also a major factor in its drinkability. A pleasant pint, I have never seen it on tap and the bottles are becoming more difficult to get, the brewery was bought and renamed Williams Bros in 2003 and it has been a rarity since then.
Worth a try, if you ever see it.
