Mercator is our take on a classic Belgian-Style Tripel. Named after Gerardus Mercator, a 16th century Southern Dutch cartographer, geographer, and cosmographer whose innovations are used in nautical charts to this day. Mercator Belgian-Style Tripel is brewed with a touch of Belgian Candi Sugar to balance a drier finish. Mercator pours a bright, golden yellow color. Crisp, clean, and spice forward with a soft, creamy mouthfeel. Subtle Belgian yeast esters lead to a warming finish balanced by notes of clove, honey, and spice.

Nice, golden appearance. A little hazy.
Aroma is about right for the style, if a bit tart from the dark fruits.
Flavor is good. Tons of dark fruits, banana, and Belgian yeast. A bit on the sweeter side but has a nice spicy character to provide balance.
Body is thick and syrupy and a bit too boozy.
Overall, a pretty good Tripel. It's definitely worth a try, especially considering the price.

Growler filled yesterday sampled today.
Lightly hazy deep yellow bordering on gold with a good sized bone white head that persists. Honey, sweet bready malt lots of earthy notes and a light sour note that distracts. Sweeter and more body than a tripel should have with a spicy alcohol note that's ever present.

Snagging a pint at the brewery on a lovely Saturday afternoon.... $7.00 plus tax...
This one's a slightly hazy, medium golden brew. Has minimal carbo, and a thin, fine, creamy white head. Lacing is solid but not overwhelming. Aroma is a bit bready and crackery, with some fruity notes - spot on! Has a medium-plus body, and the feel is mostly smooth; no issues here.
Flavor is what's to be expected from a Tripel... lightly sweet with crackery, pilsner malts... fruity action - pear, green apple, honeydew.... subtle intimations of candy sugar, with some slightly spicy, yeasty action in the dryish finish. Very solid and extremely well-made.... One of my favorite local made Tripels. This one brings me back to Belgium, every time! Prosit!!
