Pours a light fizzy small head covering with med retention, a bit of lacing, very clear pale to slight amber color

Nose brings malt but some weird aromas as well, grainy malt with some toast and lots of unique grains almost like 12 grain bread, a light acidic solventy character as well, lots of toasted pie crust notes and some spices,

Taste brings more of that fruity acidic and slight solventy character again, some grainy malt with more toasted grains and that 12 grain bread thing again, toasted bread and toasted pie crust again, a bit nutty, touch of hop, solventy character turns a bit to glue late, dry finish

Mouth is med bod, med higher fizzy carb, a bit slick like maybe some diacetyl

Overall very flawed, possibly some infection, or some weird bottling issue, not sure but this was not very good, even without the infection issue the very toasted malt character is still a bit too much for a Marzen

On draft.

Great clear golden color.

Aroma of biscuit malts and caramel.

Flavor is very roasted, toasted caramel malts, caramel candy, a little bit of dark fruit.

Nice clean mouthfeel. Dry.

Overall a very good marzen lager. Drinkable and very toasty. Good beer for an open fire during late fall.

Stopped by Kelsen yesterday (22OCT20) to try their newly released Märzen. A 16oz pour set me back $6.00.

Poured a clear, medium copper color, with steady carbo. Had a thin, off-white head, which left very nice lace. Nose was bready and toasty, with some caramel. Had a decent medium body, with a fairly smooth feel.

Taste was of more toasted bread and crust, with mild semi-sweetness. The malts were quite nice, though hopping was basically negligible. This solid rendition had a clean, dry finish. Nice!! Prosit!!
