Pours a fizzy dark copper with lumpy thin ring of foam. Nose is soap and stew. Pruney toasted malts with tobacco hops. Light to medium, lively, some stick.

Why the heck does it say "IPA" on the front of the label when it says that it's a 80/- on the back? Not an IPA by any definition.

Not a lot of experience with this style, but still thin with some distinctly unpleasant hopping.

500ml bottle bought from The Vintage, Antrim

Poured a deep clear copper colour. Slightly off white head poured fairly thick and foamy with a frothy topping then faded quickly to patchy covering with thick edging that climbs up the glass... some light lacing lines...

Aroma - Lots of toffee maltiness, cut wet grass with a hint of the countryside, quite nutty, some buttery hints, toffee apples, toasted bread, light vegetal traces, citrus hop notes...

Taste pretty much mirrors the aroma... lots of nutty caramel hints backed by quite strong grassy and citrus hops... some apples and light ripe pear fruitiness, buttery traces...

M&D - Quite smooth with a little bite underneath... light / medium bodied... A good sessionable brew at only 4.0%...

Overall - A pretty good brew - nothing mind blowing but very drinkable.. well worth a try..

33cl bottle poured into my Hofbrau pint glass.

A- Dark ruby mahogany brown with a 2 finger creamy head that disappates relatively quickly. Lacing is moderate. Looks tasty

S- Faint toffee malts, a fresh grassy note.

T- Pretty thin on the ground here. Some faint biscuit malts but this quickly fades to a thin watery forgetful finish.

M- Light, high carbonation.

D- Certainly easy to drink, very inoffensive but really lacks in any type of character for me. Instantly forgettable

Dark Copper with a nice, dark white head that settles to a half centimeter of lacing around the top of the glass. Quite dark but clear with no bubbles.

Quite like a lot of English bitters with hints of toffee & some malts on the nose. Dark fruits & a pleasant berry smell along with some caramel can also be detected.

Rather like the smell with dark summer fruits such as berries being the main flavour detected. It mirrors the smell with toffee & hints of caramel. There is a quite bitter aftertaste.

Quite light on the palate with lots of carbonation &quite a bit of fizz on the tongue as it is drank. I found this one just a little too watery although it was very easy to drink.

I doubt I would purchase this beer again although wouldn't rule out drinking it again, it's just that there is a lot of much better bitters out there & those often work out cheaper than this one.
