Bought can at loblaws the brew date on the can was Feb 12th so I'm getting a fresh brew.
poured it into my beer glass with a 2 finger creamy head .
I'm thinking this beer would be nice with a good meal .
The taste was bitter and citrusy.
It was a good beer but a little too much on the bitter side .some people like that tho.
Cheers

Class V India Pale Ale from Whitewater Brewing Company in Foresters Falls, Ontario. 5.5 % alc. and 72 IBUs.

Foamy white head that dissipates quickly. The beer is a copper colour and hazy.

Smell is non-existent and that is disappointing.

On the other hand, the taste is pleasant. Pine notes, mixed with subtle maltiness. The mouthfeel is smooth with a hint of prickliness. Overall the beer is medium bodied. The finish is dry and slightly tart but not bitter. Really nice glass lacing.

In a world where there are a lot of IPAs to choose from this is middle of the road. That’s not bad, just where I feel it lands on the scale. You could certainly find more flavourful IPAs to choose from.

Grade: B.

Poured from a standard 473 ml Canadian tall boy pint can. It was really bitter on the first taste, almost dank and unpleasant. It got smoother as it warmed and was consumed and held up to spicy Tex Mex food.

Cloudy mid amber with a rocky off white dense head and plentiful lacing . Aroma: herbal hops with significant citrus notes but slightly musty. Flavour; The malts, bready, caramel don’t really come through. The hops now show as piney and slightly metalic edge. Not well balanced.

Poured into a tulip this one pours rich yellow with decent collar that lasted reasonably well. Very clear. Citrusy hops here without a lot of complexity. Too sweet smelling for my like. Equally sweet taste with hoppy finish. Not complex at all and far from a traditional IPA. Disappointing and couldn't finish it. Hope they can move their IPA along in time.

L: Rocky head, somewhat cloudy, oddly reddish
S: Strangley lacking malt or hop in the aroma but there is a chemically smell to the beer
T: Unpleasantly piney and bitter with strong grassy overtones
F: Rough on the tongue with a thin bitter watery finish
O: This is a rather unpleasant beer that is quite poorly made. Drain pour.

I've now found a small handful of amazing beers from Ontario, now that I have moved to Ottawa from Vancouver. This is definately one of them. It's a cloudy amber beer with decent lacing. I'm not getting much aroma but that's pretty common for me and I'm beginning to think that I have a defective nose. The taste, however, is awesome. It's a full bodied, almost savory flavour that has a great bitter kick. It's 72 IBUs according to the can but it feels like less. In other words, I could easily drink a 4 or 6 pack of this beer without growing tired of the bitterness halfway through. This will become a firm favourite in my new home in the same way that Bridge Brewing's Pale Ale or Black Kettle's IPA were back in North Vancouver.....AND, Whitewater is said to be in "the Ottawa Valley" so I may get the chance to visit the brewery soon.

If you want a spot on review of this beer, see the one from jeffo. It's definitely an attempt at an IPA, despite what is said by Cramshawbar. Alexander Keiths is a beer which has no right to call itself an IPA. This one is trying; lots of hops were used ... it's just not all that good. It's like they took an Amber Ale & tossed in a bunch of hops without the experience required to bring out the best flavours. The result is that you don't get a lot in terms of pleasing hop flavour, but only the astringent bitterness which dominates the end of each sip. Will not seek out again as there are a lot of much better IPAs out there.

Waaaay too malty to really be considered an IPA. Hops in the nose, but also a ton of malt, caramel, general sweetness. Gently bitter to drink, bready and full of caramel before giving way to a lingering gentle bitterness. Looks great though. Clear reddish amber, lots of bubble action. Rather big head settles to a substantial cap with lots of chunky, heavy lace along the way. Don't always see a lot of 'em like that.

Yeah, more English than American.
