473 ml can as part of a Whitewater sampler pack. Served cold into a tulip. LCBO purchase for about $3.50 CDN. Canned October 23, 2020. Listed at 7.2% ABV.
Appearance - Mostly opaque honey brown colored brew that eve looks red in some lighting. A finger plus of head and good retention lots of curtain lacing left behind.
Smell - Lots of coffee up front and then hits of lemon and maybe mango mixed in. Strange but fairly appealing combo. Wet coffee grounds remain in terms of aroma.
Taste - Initially citrus, then followed up with plenty of espresso. The citrus is non-descript a simple lemon, grapefruit and candied mango combo and gives way to a coffee burst that is not as intense as the nose. Taste is acidic and stays with some green pepper flavor on the tongue.
Mouthfeel - Smooth and medium bodied, peppery finish, carbonation is fairly light.
Overall - A good beer but not a great one. I think a few things could use tweaking as neither the coffee not the citrus comes through enough to make Jacked Rabbit memorable. Certainly and interesting concept and I really do enjoy finding some o these unusual creative endeavors in a mixed seasonal pack.
