Situated in a corner of town which looks like some Victorian ruin, The Harbour Bar continues its impressive run as one of Fife's and Scotland's, best pubs. Just check out its many years in the Good Beer Guide. With an atmosphere reminiscent of Manchester's Jolly Angler( though locals justifiably see it see more like a 'village local) staying for a mere single pint can be tricky. And once you've crosss the threshold its as if you've crossed a into a different plain of existence.
There are usually 6 cask aleas available and Nick often has a good ever changing range of well selcted beers from smalll English breweries ready to dispense.
Friends have often commented that it could do with a facelift but for me the decor is part of the charm and who would really want the distraction away from all that well kept beer? Its been an oasis in the desert for years now. There's no reason to change.
As for the onsite brewery, it frequently remains dormant but every once in a while a pretty well made beer makes an appearance but there are no guarantees.
In the end a written description just can'ty do the place justice. Its a place you really need to experience. Especially if you have a day to spend.
