Yellow Donkey relies on a mixture of hops including Aurora and Styrian Golding from Slovenia, Cascade from Oregon, and exotic Motueka from New Zealand, which produces a refreshing citrus taste, as well as contributing natural antioxidants and antibacterial elements. Slightly bitter tones refine and invigorate the overall flavor, creating the perfect accompaniment for a meal by the sea, relaxing at the beach or hanging out at a favorite watering hole.

Poured in Oia, Santorini!
Deep cloudy gold, but almost more of an unfiltered appearance than a true Hefeweizen
Nose is grainy with hints of citrus and maybe melon.
Taste has wheat, but piled on top are bright citrus notes, and floral tones
Soft mouthfeel, but still with a crisp finish. Very refreshing
Really great beer, one of the best available options in Greece if you can find it. This is not a traditional Hefeweizen- no banana or clove.

I have been drinking Mythos and Alfa the past two weeks and thinking Greek beer is not that good. Then the waitress at the Kookoo in Oia (Santorini) brought me her favorite local beer, Yellow Donkey. Very nice!
It poured a rather cloudy amber/red and smelled a bit fruity and fresh. First taste my eyes went wide open and the waitress laughed. It was a lot better than I expected. A little citrus, a nice combo of hops, the mouthfeel was kind of round and full but not heavy. Just a refreshing beer!
The best beer I have had in Greece by a notable margin.

I tried this beer on the Island of Santorini in Oia village whilst vacationing in the Greek Isles. It poured a hazy yellow with white head that left a spotty lace. The scent had grain notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with grain and biscuit presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a decent beer.

Drank straight out of the bottle
T: grapefruit, orange zest, caramel malt, tea leaf, and a nice floral note to end
M: medium with a nice carbonation level
O: the floral notes in this are quite nice. The beer is not too heavy and the bitterness isn't overwhelming. This is on the better side of the beers on Santorini

Think Lagunitas Little Sumpin Sumpin, but merely good instead of outstanding.
Still, it's a wonderful surprise after wading through gallons of Alpha and other swill you find on Greek Islands. If you find it, drink up.
