I had this black ale on tap at le Bon Coin in Nernier, France. Quite disapointed with this one as it lacks on roasty notes and the hop presence is not that strong. More of a brown ale

I went traveling in Alsace and I recommend this beer. Without being a great beer, a product is good enough to be able to enjoy of a good time with good beer.

Picked this up at La Capsule Cave à Bière in Nancy, France. Dark brown, nearly black pour with a two finger creamy beige head with nice retention and great lacing. The nose is sweet and roasty with hints of pine, caramel, citrus, espresso, toffee, and chocolate. The taste is complex and flavorful with hints of pine, tangerine, resin, soy sauce, toffee, chocolate, espresso, orange peel, and just a touch of smoke. The mouthfeel is thick, chewy, and oily with great balance and a smooth, creamy finish. The drinkability is off the charts! Overall, this is a really nice complex and flavorful Black IPA. Right up there with all my favorites in the style. I'm kicking myself for not buying more of these. Highly recommended!
