2020 Cellar Patron Exclusive.
Toasted hazelnut, strawberry, and banana on the nose; potent malt base, especially as it’s poured and has a moment to open up.
The palate hits with a noticeable brandy heat and notes of caramel coffee and bitter chocolate featuring throughout. Not getting any banana flavor. There’s some subtle vanilla as it warms, alongside increasing strawberry on the palate as it continues to warm.
Overall definitely not my favorite TrimTab stout release. A lot of adjuncts thrown together that just didn’t all play nicely. Some shined more than others while a couple of them just couldn’t break through. Potential here, but not enough care taken in making sure to avoid clashing flavors.
