Third Sulwath bottle of the evening: 500ml just out of date when opened on 4th Aug 2012.
Dark brown with no ruby red hints I could find: on top a full and fairly deep head of tan coloured foam.
Burnt malts of course rule the nose and taste: coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice all in the flavours.
Not rich or creamy, but far from watery, a medium depth of body I suppose. OK more than great.

Lovely ruby to black colouring, but no head to speak of. Very thin, wispy pieces of foam, but that's about it.
Rich, coffee bean and chocolate scent. Roasted barely, no trace of the hops.
A bit more sour in the taste - I think the scent is actually more pleasant than the taste. The coffee bean and chocolate profile is still in there, but quite sour.
Regardless, this is still a smooth drinking and perhaps even sessionable porter.
