500ml bottle, just out of date when opened on 4th Aug 2012.
Lovely dark amber body with a thin tan coloured head on top.
The nose and taste combined nicely: malty and yet hoppy too, pine, nuts and caramel vied for prominence with yeast and a mini-hop bittereness also in the mix.
Well balanced and easy to drink, the 5% ABV being nicely hidden. Soft and smooth feel to it.

Light ruby colour with a mildly off-white head that piles up and has holes through it like Emmentaller.
Smoky, somewhat peat malt scent. Hints of wine and scotch.
Toffee, smoky whisky taste. No real hop presence. A bit bitter, but nice to drink.
This is a good beer, but the rich smoky character hampers the drinkability a bit.
