Always excited to have a Christmas ale, no matter the time of year. The booze here was way out of wack, smokey even, cutting into those wonderful spices. Feel was very watery despite the spices and booze. Ok flavors overall, but not a beer to write home about, certainly didn't give me the warm fuzzies

22 ounce bottle into a snifter.
Pours a mostly opaque, dark ruby, with a big 2-3 finger head on an average pour. Good amount of soapy lacing. Smell is malt, figs, plums, wine, spices, raisins, some vanilla, light maple and bourbon. The taste follows the same path as the the nose: malt, figs, dates, spices, light maple and bourbon, raisins, some caramel. Smooth, good body, pretty over- carbonated.
I liked this, but the barrels are too subtle, and the carbonation is a negative. Promise unfulfilled....

Tasted in a 12 oz snifter from draught at Firkin on December 18, 2015. This holiday-inspired, spiced ale blends the flavors of ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and cinnamon over a molasses and caramel grain base before aging in bourbon maple syrup barrels.
