An awakening of selective memory loss, this is a tip of the cap to our friends who previously occupied this space. Our brewmaster Rob’s first commercial brew years ago was a Kolsch and he has rewritten this recipe for year round delight. Pilsner nose, Noble hops on the palate, ale fermented at cooler temps and lagered for a clean crisp finish with a touch of sweetness.

Had this beer a few years back as part of a flight. Wasn't into Kölsch's then but enjoy them more now so may have given it a better rating now.

Nicely done lager. Clean and clear, modest carbonation. Frothy head, pleasant aroma of German hops. Taste is very authentic, controlled hopiness on top of a layer of slightly sweet malt. It's a pleasant beer for a hot afternoon. If you see these around, pick some up.

On-draught @ the brewery:
Deliciously fruity. A surprisingly well executed Kolsch from an American brewery.
Drinks crisp and clean. Refreshing.

Had on tap. Clear golden body with a white cap and lazy bands of lacing. Grains, lemon and an oddly earthy yeast in the faint nose. Taste leads with lemon and watery grains, notes of dirt emerge with cracker. Feel is light, watery, has some graininess to help but it is not enough. Average kolsch at best

Clear yellow golden brew with fine grained foam in the narrow Zunft Kölsch glass. Light and bright with a prickly mouthfeel. Not much of the classic perfumey hop notes, but pleasantly floral aroma. Light grainy taste with a touch of green pepper.
Moderate bitterness, more like a Pilsner, but it doesn't interfere with the pleasure. Resiny aftertaste. Tangy. This is a better than average American version of a Kölsch. From the 16 oz can shipped from StormBreaker.

Pours a half finger of head on a slightly hazy light straw body.
The aroma is dry grains and a little metallic.
The taste has a nice sweet start, then a mild bitter finish. Solid profile.
The texture is crisp and fizzy.
Nice.
