This was yet another beer that I picked up recently from a Whole Foods in San Francisco, as I was hoping that it would be good as the Fort Point offerings that I've had from Trillium. Although this wasn't up to those lofty standards, this was a decent American Pale Ale that had enough body and flavor to be enjoyable, although it was a bit too overripe and lacking in boldness to be rated any higher on here.
No doubt that the pour was this beer's best attribute as this had appearance of polished brass, when held up to the light. Loved the soapy and sudsy head, as it was quite thick and long-lasting as the lacing left behind was thick, wavy, and well-defined down the length of my pint glass. Not a strong aroma to this with malt and oats faintly standing out. The taste expounded on that as there were hints of strawberry patch, faint ice cream, turbid green, and dank forest filled the taste as this was quite heavy-handed for a beer of this type. This had the feel of a Golden State beer with the lingering, subtle hop burn staying around in the aftertaste long after I finished this off.
There wasn't a lot of booze here but this felt every bit the 5.9% throughout my time with it. Canned on 1/2 with "AS ABOVE, SO BELOW" written above it, this had a ton of white chocolate and heavy weed that reminded me of something from Humboldt and the north of California. While not bad, this was too dense for my taste and a bit too simplistic, just like the label. One of these was enough for me...
