Look: It pours black with a brown head. Head retention is good.

Smell: There are plenty of dark fruits that are up front in the aroma. The dark fruits and plums and figs. There are also some roasted notes with chocolate.

Taste: The sweetness from the dark fruits is up front with plums and figs. It is a bit sugary and also has chocolate and roasted notes.

Feel: It has a full body with a finish that is on the sweet side. It is also quite smooth.

Overall, it reminds me of a tropical stout because of the sweetness, but an imperial because of the ABV.

A: Pours a clear opaque jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising quickly along the edges of the glass and moderate garnet red + dark cola brown colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense foamy tan head that quickly reduces to a large patch of very thin film covering about 95% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of dark chocolate, espresso, and dark fruits (plum + fig) over the top of moderate aromas of dark roasted malts.

T: Upfront there are strong flavors of dark roasted malts and espresso. That is followed by moderate flavors of dark chocolate and a moderate flavor of dark fruit (plum + fig) which contribute a light amounts of sweetness. There is a moderate amount of roasty bitterness in the finish which linger for quite a while.

M: Just shy of full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Moderate amounts of roasty dryness in the finish.

O: Drinks fairly easily though this one is more of a slow sipper with decently hidden alcohol considering the strength of the beer. Nice roasty flavors and a pleasant dryness in the mouthfeel. Quite enjoyable.

Came jet black with a thick creamy beige head atop that took it's time settling into a frothy mass.Dark chocolate and alcohol dipped dark fruits in the nose, deep roast underneath.Much drier on the palate than most of the style, the espresso roast flavors really come thru over top of the dark chocolate and dark fruit. It does get slightly boozy but never overly sweet, well done.
