A good beer....a good beer. Somewhere though the train of though was lost. Looking for a true Belgie Double? Not here...but that is why I say good beer.
Look and feel is close to quad, not bright and bubbly like you'd expect from a dubbel but the ABV says dub.

On-tap at the source itself in Pomona, on to the beer:
This dubbel is colored ruby brown and is momentarily topped with an inch of head before it quickly drops to nothing. That aesthetic is put to the side with one smell. This dubbel has lots of plum and spice aromas, smaller notes of fig and sweet powdery malt. Despite an alcohol level over 9% ABV, much of it is masked in both aroma and flavor. The taste of red grape, a vague medicinal note (in a pleasing way) and light brushes of roasted grain and vague fruit. You never know what kind of Belgian-styled ale (dubbel or otherwise) you will get from an American brewer, and Sanctum Brewing is on the doorstep of the good Belgian brewed ones.
