i cant think of a better hangover beer than this one, man i was whipped when i came in here for some brunch, was thinking about not even having a beer, but this sounded unique and right on for what i needed, and its a beauty! looks a little lighter than most porters, almost more of a brown in color, with a short tan head but a wonderfully inviting aroma of blueberry syrup and earthy dark chocolate, super rich smelling for a beer so light in alcohol, and totally unique, the intensity of the blueberry here is high, especially for needing to push through the dark grain base, it has no issues doing that. the flavor is more balanced than the nose, but its still totally driven by the blueberries, sweet and concentrated, but authentic from what i can tell, maybe brewed with a concentrate, but its a good one, and they arent too sweet. some tang there too for a moment, lots of rich darker grains, cocoa and dark chocolate, even a note of coffee, which adds to the morning appeal of this one. the body remains light even as the flavors burst, its really interesting, and its totally delicious. they had some far more interesting and ambitious beers pouring in here than they did when i was in a year or so ago, seems like the beers are all improving too. this is a great breakfast beer, nothing quite like it, real well done!
