At the brewery, on tap, not sure what's up but this is listed (at the brewery) as 6.2%, and that feels about right, but that's way too high to be described as an "ordinary bitter." Anyway, comes in a shaker, clear dark reddish amber, 1/2 finger white head and good lacing. Nose has a good bit of caramel, toffee, not as much biscuit or nuttiness as I was hoping but it is still there. Taste follows with some nice mellow earthy hops that kick in half-way through to provide a little counterbalance with all the malt. A little heavy, to me, but I'm distracted (perhaps wrongly) by the fact that it is described as a bitter. Leaving aside advertising, it is a good pint.

The Pub Ale is a nice representation of an English style pale ale. It poured golden clear with white head that left some lacing. The scent and taste leaned toward bitter. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with nice carbonation. Overall this was ok.

This beer arrivesa clear deep red color the head is a half inch in height, and recedes slowly. Lacing is good. The aroma is of caramel, toffee, buscuit, and has a whif of floral hops. The taste is wonderfully malty. It has lots of tofffee, nugat, caramel, and herbal tea. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a velvety texture, and appropriately mild carbonation. Overall, this is a very easy drinking beer, with quite a bit of complexity.
