This beer had my intrigued by one thing: the name. After seeing this in the local I had to buy a pint.
The beer poured a nice brown colour with a slight hint of ruby and an off white head. This was followed by a slightly disappointing nose, a mixture of both hops and malts, typical of a Scottish ale, and a hint of burnt caramel, but nothing to write home about.
The taste of this beer is what makes it. There is a nice balance of hops and malts with a hint of roasted caramel and a nice hint of fruits that add to the flavour but are not overpowering. This is one of the nicest tasting beers I have had in a long while.
The mouthfeel is very good for a beer, not too watery and a nice hit on both the bitter and sweet taste buds. This encouraged me to enjoy another and I remaind on this all night. A very drinkable beer, it tasted quiet old fashioned, like a pint of 70~ / 80~ before it became very commercialised. Ok so a pint of heavy is not to everyones taste, but I am a fan of that genre and this is the nicest pint of heavy I have had in a long time. Notice I said heavy not wee heavy (these are different in Scotland).
