12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Gifted to me from my cousin; my first encounter with this beer blend, and this 'brewery'. "Brewed and bottled for 4 Brothers Blended Beer Co. by Sand Creek Brewing Compnay, Black River Falls, Wisconsin." No abv listed on the bottle. Bottle says this is a blend of Wheat, Helles, & Amber. I have absolutely no idea what to expect.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours a bright crisp golden orange color; almost IPA-like in appearance with about a finger of soapy white head that leaves behind some good strands of lace. Some adequate carbonation and light sedimentation visible. Looks very nice. 4

S - The smell is grainy & wheaty, with a light musty smell, and some overripe fruit notes - peaches n' cream, apple / cider, pear, and a slight metallic note on the end. 3.5

T - The taste follows the nose - crisp grains / wheat, and lots of fruity / cidery apple, pear, & peach notes. Bready, and lightly sweet, but I would say it is more fruity. I was expecting it to be a sloppy unbalanced mess, but I am actually really enjoying this. 4

M - The feel is crisp & clean, with a good earthy / cidery fruitiness lingering on the aftertaste. Light sweetness, medium bodied, with good carbonation. Very easy drinking. 4

Overall, it doesn't taste like a blend at all I'd say, but a well-thought out and nicely brewed beer. This definitely has me interested to try more blends from these guys. Well done.

Appearance: Pale yellow color. Poured with half a finger of head but quickly dissipated. Active carbonation is about right for the style.

Smell: The front is clean lager yeast and some crisp hops. Dig a little deeper and the amber malts show up with accents of molasses and caramel. There is a wheat aroma lingering throughout this whole brew.

Taste: Amber malts win out on the front. Those caramel and molasses notes ride into a body of mild wheat. The front and beginning of the body blast into a clean lager yeast and crisp hop finish. The finish is some dry wheat and lingering sweet malts.

Mouthfeel: The distinct transitions of this blended brew are really great. Distinct, yet coming together so well.

Overall: Wow really surprised here. I've always been skeptical of blended beers but this one comes together extremely well. The clear distinctions are felt between each brew yet they come together perfectly. Bravo 4 Brothers.

This beer reinforces yet again how difficult it is for a beer of this type to rise up to be something special. It's not bad, would be good to cook with, if you don't want a bold beer or one that has any serious character, then maybe, it's ok. But again what is there here to have it stand out - not much. Not quite a beer for the masses, but not a beer of distinction either. Bit on the sweet side is all.
