Pours a slightly cloudy, deep amber, coppery coloration with a large, creamy head. Smells of light caramel malt and hoppy notes of grapefruit and pine, with a slight floral note as well. Taste follows the nose, with a great balance of caramel malt and hoppy notes of grapefruit and pine, with a resinous character and a light floral note as well. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some grapefruit and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This single-hop IPA highlights the beauty of Simcoe hops quite well with its lightly resinous character and strong notes of grapefruit and pine needles, supplemented nicely by a subtle caramel malt presence.
