Pours a cloudy, deep, dark ruby red coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of bready, caramel malt and red/dark fruits, with just a hint of citrus coming through as well. Taste follows the nose, being dominated by sweet'ish bready and caramel malt and red berries: strawberry, redcurrant, with lighter notes of dark fruit: plum, fig and just a hint of citrus and grass. Finishes more sweet than bitter, with a light bitterness and some caramel malt and red berries lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This is a nice Red Ale, although it's a little too sweet for my personal and also totally lacks the resinous, bitter quality that I appreciate in an American Red Ale. Still, it's not too sweet and has some rather nice red and dark fruit notes going for it, as well as just a touch of citrus to liven things up a little.
