Poured into a mug.
The appearance has a dark brown colored body with a thin white foamy head that once it dies there is some nice foamy lacing. The smell has a rich bready and caramel maltiness that dominates and eventually allows some darker fruits to present themselves. The taste is sweet through the malts and backed up by the darker fruits, slight fruity aftertaste with a creamy sticky finish. On the palate, she sits about a medium on the body, for an Oktoberfest surprisngly enough - its coming across to me as not as sessionable but actually doesn’t show enough to be a sipper either. Carbonation seems fairly good for the style and for me as it becomes slightly smooth and creamy coating the mouth and tongue. Overall, this is not a bad Oktoberfest though she sits a bit heavier than most Oktoberfests I’ve had. I wouldn’t mind having again and seeing what this one could do with its respected food.

A: The beer is a deep golden brown color, with a large off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick but spotty lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains caramelized malts, lager yeast, nuts, some fruit and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of caramel, nuts, toffee and fruit. Then a strong breadiness comes in from lager yeast and a hearty malt character. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Smooth and a little crisp but there’s a touch of chalkiness, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, although there may be better choices in the style this is still a good beer to pound down for a while.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

22 oz bottle. Nice amber to dark brown color. Sweet taste at the begining and bitter enough at the end. Very good foam. Too much caramel for me but I think it's acceptable. Nice balanced. Can't describe a hops.. Just traces..
Medium CO2. I will recommend it.

Bottle from Bert’s Pours a solid copper bordering on dark brown with some ruby highlights at the edges. Aromas of bready and caramelized malt and hints of prunes and raisins. The flavor is rich caramelized bready malt and hints of dark fruits with a touch of diacytyl. Light to medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick almost watery mouthfeel. I enjoyed this one more than the schwarzbier. This beer lacks a fuller body that I usually expect for the style, and the diacytyl distracts a bit. Some tweaks and this could be a fantastic.

The pour is a very gorgeous chestnut or mahogany color with reddish hues glowing faintly along the side of the glass. The moderate head is tan in color.

The aroma equals malts. That is the key ingredient with a mild sweetness as well as a slightly overripe fruit character.

Light to medium body but more toward medium.

The flavor has a nice malty sweetness up front with a slight bitterness coming up on the backside. There is a sort of fruity character in there as well. I would say that it fits the profile of the style.
