Throw caution to the wind and take a ride on the hopside. Savour the flavour of fresh citrus and forest pine along the way and taste the freedom of the open road.

Pours slightly misty blond with a rather frothy head. Aromas - mostly pine, dusty. Flavours: pine and citrus. Slighly metalic in the finish. Not much depth or malt charachter.

Got this one from the LCBO this past summer
From a 473ml can into a pint glass
IBU: 52
APPEARANCE: Pours a two finger, medium looking, slightly creamy white head with very good retention. Clear gamboge orange with no carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a full, foamy cap and clings to the glass. Splotchy wisp remains leaving decent lacing down the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Honeydew melon, cantaloupe, lemon notes with hints of grapefruit and pineapple as well. Medium strength.
TASTE: Grassy flavors with honeydew sweetness, cantaloupe and notes of grapefruit at the swallow. Bolder finish melon and cantaloupe sweetness, some citrus and lemon flavors, as well as some decent piney hop bitterness. Solid.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down fine and finishes a bit dry. Some bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: This is a definitely better than their session IPA. More character here and more refreshing for sure. The feel is also much better. A decent brew for sure, but there are still others in the LCBO that are better for the style.

L. Paler than most IPAs. Wonderfull creamy looking head followed by nice lacing.
S. Light citrus hop aroma.
T. Somewhat light on malt and high on bitterness leaving it slightly unbalanced but possibly more refreshing as a result. Long bitter finish.
F. Medium to light body with pleasant carbonation.
O. I find it to be a traditional style IPA and very drinkable. Personally, I would perhaps prefer a little more maltiness.

Nice n'hoppy on the nose. High bitterness. Seems somewhat pale in colour compared to other IPAs. Head clings to side of glass but thins out on top. A good example but not a great example. Quite enjoyable.

Hopside IPA is the colour of dried mango but shows active signs of life; bubbles flutter (even though a head never subsists) and highlights are borderline blinding. It's a fine looking ale, indeed (overlooking the lack of foam, of course).
In qualitative terms, the nose is good: pine needle and over-ripe mango, bit of caramel. Quantity-wise, however, we're not quite in the right wheelhouse for an American IPA; these flavours limp out the glass rather than skyrocket. It also smells a little... off.
This feature is one I've noted in a couple of Perth's initial batches (and many friends' homebrews). It's either a subtle brewing defect or a questionable house characteristic. It might be defined as having a kind of dirty dishwater quality, and it smells especially 'weedy'.
In truth, however, these characteristics don't hurt this beer much; it isn't at all uncommon for IPAs to be reminiscent of dishsoap or grassy weeds. This combination of lemony acidity, pine notes, rank citrus, and over-steeped green tea is a pretty conventional one. And Hopside does it justice.
My favourite IPAs all seem to fall north of 6% alcohol (but still well south of 8%). This isn't a hard-and-fast rule but the style, by definition, should be full-bodied, broad, and bitter. Hopside IPA, at 5.5%, is a little too skinny for my tastes. It's got the right attitude - it just needs more of it!
