This IPA is edgy, aggressive & epitomizes the new genre of North American IPA's. It maintains hop character & great balance between malt & hops

650ml bottle - the label imagery seems to indicate that this might be English in style, but what do I know, eh?
This beer pours a lightly hazy, medium bronzed amber colour, with one measly finger of weakly puffy, and mostly just bubbly ecru head, which leaves some distant deciduous tree line lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.
It smells of bready and rather doughy caramel malt, sugary orange, lemon, and red grapefruit citrus, a hint of hard water flintiness, and more leafy, herbal, and kind of floral green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy caramel malt, a touch of biscuity toffee sweetness, muddled tropical fruit, a more pedestrian orange and lemon rind acerbity, and some hepped up leafy, weedy, and slightly perfumed floral hoppiness.
The carbonation is quite understated in its barely supportive frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and mostly smooth, but for a wee clamminess kind of present from the onset. It finishes off-dry, the sturdy malt and attendant fruity notes really putting the screws to any bittering agents with lingering aspirations.
Overall, this is still a Yankee-adjacent IPA, however the large malt bill (and Vancouver Island origins) have me singing God Save the Queen right now - the Sex Pistols version, of course. Easy to drink, and maybe a bit too sweet by the end, but that's not a big deal - and we mean it, man!

Appearance - Pours a copper with three fingers of foamy white head.
Smell - citrus and hint of earthy hops, citrus and tropical fruits (pineapple, orange), and bready malts.
Taste - Citrus and hint of earthy hops followed by the citrus and tropical fruits (pineapple, orange). The bready malts help to round out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes dry with a lingering bitterness.
Overall - An average American IPA. The appearance was stellar but the hops need to be dialed up to make it true to the style.

4 Mile Brewpub 'Powder Keg IPA' @ 6.0% , served from a growler purchased for $12
A-pour is gold from the growler to a clear amber in the glass with a small off-white head leaving a streaky lace along the pint
S-faint hoppyness (I'm plugged up)
T-crisp & clean tasting IPA , not to hoppy or malty , nicely balanced
MF-ok carbonation , feels full bodied
Ov-ok beer , decent PNW IPA

A stunning example to me of a west-coast IPA. Lots of tropical fruit taste and aroma in this with passion fruit, pineapple and orange. In a city loaded with craft beer, this one stood out as capable of holding its own. I've had it in growlers a few times with people who have shared it being very surprised. Small white foam head from growler and when I've had it on tap. Definitely two thumbs up if you like North-West, hoppy IPAs with a tropical fruit edge to the hops.
