A true old school Brown, the type of beer that first lured me away from the adjuncts of the world. It's appearance is definite cola, with a bit of tan head that retreats to the edges and loiters around. Definitely on the sweeter spectrum of browns - plenty of sugar and Nestle Quick chocolate syrup here. Later in the sip, however, toffee and caramel malt help save the day. Overall, a very enjoyable brown ale. This is a new brewery for this guy - methinks I will be back for more!

650ml bottle - you had me at 'Grande Damn Wham', but then had to add the 'Brothel Brown' moniker on the back label - saucy, oh so saucy!
This beer pours a clear, dark orange-brick amber colour, with one measly finger of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly tan head, which leaves some stringy Sci-Fi alien script lace around the glass as it quickly hies it outta town.
It smells of semi-sweet, bready and doughy caramel malt, subtle bittersweet chocolate, stale cafe-au-lait, a generic nuttiness, muddled dark orchard fruity notes, and very understated leafy, weedy, and earthy noble hop bitters. The taste is still kind of sweet grainy and doughy caramel/toffee malt, bland milk-dosed coffee, cheap dime-store chocolate wafers, an oily bar-top nut bowl thing, some waning black stone fruitiness, and more weak leafy, earthy, and mildly floral hoppiness.
The carbonation is fairly muted in its hard to really make light of frothiness, the body a solid medium weight, and mostly smooth, just a touch of undefined otherness gently marring the scene here. It finishes off-dry, the pithy caramel malt starting to really get on my nerves, if maybe unjustly so.
Well, the opening sexiness of this offering doesn't really follow through with us to the end, huh? It's not bad overall, the cocoa, coffee, and caramel essences doing a bang-up job of keeping this one afloat, but this would have been more appropriate being served by the paid to be comely lasses at that local craft beer bar earlier in the day.

Appearance - Pours a chestnut brown with two fingers of creamy tan head.
Smell - bready malts, caramel, toffee, nutty aromas, sweet date aroma, and hint of earthy hops
Taste - A malty brew that displays the caramel, toffee, and bready malts to a tee. The nutty and sweet date aromas alongside the hint of earthy hops help to round out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes dry with a lingering sweetness.
Overall - A well executed English brown. The flavours are spot on for the style and I like the malty sweetness with the nutty aromas. Worth a try if you happen to stumble across it as it is an excellent example of the style.

Poors deep brown/mahogany, with smooth, creamy, persistant foam. Smell of toffee, with some coffee and a hint of herbal hops. LIghtly carbonated, giving it a texture somewhat similar to a cream ale. In mouth, the toffee explodes, with a welcomed earthiness. Very good. Highly recommended.
