Bourbon Oak-Aged Scotch Ale , wee bit heavy , malty toasty caramel notes , roasty bitter backbone , notes of vanilla , dark chocolate and burnt sugar , can head-bang haggis into submission , highland heartiness balances herby lamb stew , drink before caber tossing your in-laws.

First beer at snug harbor inn in uclulet BC. Pretty nice tasting beer. Rich and
smokey. Medium mouthfeel with a rather high amount of carbonation lightening the
feel. While bourbon is present, charred oak dominates the sip. Some vanilla and
chocolate character. The feel and taste are closer to a stout or porter than a
scotch ale. I see it pairing well with roasted beef short ribs with pickled
vegetables. It gets a 88/100.

4 Mile Brewpub 'Bourbon Oak Aged Scotch Ale' @ 8.0% , served from a 650 ml bottle purchased for $10
A-pour is dark gold from the bottle to a amber in the glass with a large beige head leaving a fine spotty lace along the pint
S-hints of vanilla , some chocolate , both more noticeable on the taste
T-bourbon oaked aged , so smooth
MF-lots of carbonation , not wee bit heavy , very heavy and filling
Ov-one of 4 Mile's better beers

Pours a nice dark brown with a reddish tinged edges and a finger thick white head that shrinks down to a coin thickness and hangs around for a while. The nose leads with dark sweet malts, dark sugars, vanilla and earthy hops on the edges and capped with that bourbon oak barrel. The taste has a lot of the same notes. There is a slightly bitter baker's chocolate note that goes along all the other darkness that presents in the nose. The mouthfeel is on the edges of being full bodied, but that might be because slightly less active carbonation. Thought is was tasty but wishing I had another bottle to try and age if for a bit to see what that does with the complexity.
