Helles” means “light or bright”, which refers to the beer’s pale color. KCBC’s Helles is a golden, Munich-style lager, which is the most popular style in Bavaria. This clean, crisp, medium-bodied lager has a pronounced bread and honey malt background; a clean medium noble hop bitterness; and a smooth refreshing finish. Our Helles is simple, honest and delicious. Just like homemade bread, you can enjoy it every day with almost any meal and never grow tired of it.

From a twelve ounce aluminum can...this one is crystal clear, light gold-yellow in color, and with a tall fluffy, white head. The aroma is grassy, with a bready malt and floral hop note. Fresh smelling. The taste is balanced with a light bitterness. Clean and straightforward finish. Nice and easy drinking beer.

Gold in color with a light haziness. There’s a fingernail of dishwater white on top. The aroma is of light sourdough malt and faintly grassy to lemony hops. I’m tasting light, doughy to bready malt and a touch of lemon hops. The mouth is very light and inviting.

Pours hazy light yellow with a modest short-lived head. Fragrance of bready malt, a hint of honey and herbal hops. Taste is clean, fresh bread, honey and herbal hops. A very nice Helles lager, tasty, refreshing. Enjoyable and very drinkable.

Good 1/4" white foam head over a pale golden yellow body with mild effervescence. Scent is a nice balance of earthy spice and bready malty notes. Taste really has a nice malty, bready backbone and a bit of honey-like sweetness that gets well balanced by the earthy spice notes. Feel is solidly medium bodied which seems fitting for something that strikes a great balance.

Very slightly hazy golden color with a decent white head and a few spots of lacing.
The aroma is light bready malt, a hint of honey and herbal hops.
The taste is clean, lightly sweet fresh bread, honey and just enough herbal hops for a nice balance.
The body is light/medium, good carbonation level, smooth and very drinkable.
Altogether, this is a very nice Helles lager, tasty, refreshing, should go well with most food or just as an enjoyable quaff anytime.

Great tasting Helles lager. A lot of bready, grainy maltiness up front but a nice spicy noble hop dimension balances this perfectly...
Finishes clean....medium bodied....very well done...strikes the perfect balance of being malt forward yet not oversweet.
I've seen clearer looking helles lagers though...

12oz bottled 8-29-22, opened 12-11-22.
1 finger of white foam with a tight bead, good retention. Spotty patches of sticky lacing. Hazy, golden body. Grainy and toasty malt aroma with honey and an herbal and earthy hop backing. Bready with a gentle but firm spicy hoppiness. Heftier body and mouthfeel than expected for the style, medium carbonation and a pleasure to drink. Very Good.

I've had gallons of this on tap at the brewery and in packaged 12oz bottles. To me, this is the epitome of yellow beer. It tastes and smells like liquid Malt O' Meal. The yeast is an authentic German strain, and the product is as good as Augustiner's Helles. I can't think of a way to improve this beer. It's a perfect example of the variety.

Pours a light golden color. There appears to be some light sediment in the glass. Thin white head forms on the beer before dissipating leaving just a thin layer of white foam.
Aroma has notes of sweet bready malts, light grainy notes, and some light straw and grassy hops.
Taste follows the nose with notes of white bread, light grain and honey with some straw and grassy hops. It is nice and easy drinking but lacks the malty depth that the better helles lagers have.
Feel is light, easy drinking with bright carbonation.
Overall a very nice helles lager - would be happy to drink this anytime.
