A medium-bodied amber bock lager, Maibock's caramel and honey malt flavors come from double decoction mashing with 100% imported Pilsner and Vienna malt, while all-imported Bavarian Perle hops provide moderate bitterness to balance the rich malt character. Its clean, silky-smooth finish comes from weeks of cold lagering with pure Bavarian Andechs lager yeast. Naturally carbonated.

L-Semi cloudy gold/oak color...

S-Rich bready malts..hint of spicy hops..

T-Rich smooth melanoidins...bready....touch of toasted malts...some caramel and honey sweetness....very malty with just a hint of floral/spicy hops.

F-Medium bodied...drinks malty but not cloying.

O-Incredible maibock. Probably the best American brewed maibock I've had and it would compare very nicely to German efforts like Hoffbrau Maibock.

Poured from bottle into pint glass. Nice slightly dark amber Color with small pure white head lacing Stayed on the glass thru the drink
Smell is sweet malts with a bready/biscuit Has a sweet note/ slight molasses aroma
Taste is malts with a sweet note but Not overpowering and finishes dry
Overall: I like good Mai Bocks but good ones are hard to find. This one fits the bill.
If like German style beers but can’t find fresh imports , look for KC Bier

Pours a translucent golden copper with a finger of white foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is nutty, bready, earthy malts with a dab of herbal hops. Flavor profile is caramely, bready, earthy, biscuity malts with thick syrupy, resiny, dank hops beyond. Mouth feel is medium in thickness with a little sticky texture initially that develops into creaminess. Overall, ripe hops layered between some sticky, full hops for a balanced beer. It's bright and a delight.

Draft.

12oz bottle. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled of toasted caramel, bread crust and floral notes. Sweet caramel taste with subtle roasty flavors and a mild bitterness.

Poured cold from 12-ounce bottle into a tumbler. Amber colored body, slightly light and hazy, with a snow-white long-lasting head that left some sticky lacing. Very malt forward aromas and flavors, tons of caramel and lots of sweetness. This needs to warm for a bit before coming into balance. At just above cellar temp, some floral notes and a little hop bitterness begin to surface. There is also a pleasant note of peppery spice that comes through on the finish. The sweetness is a bit much, but drinking it warm seems to mitigate that a bit. Apropos of nothing, this seems to pair well with hearty (read: greasy) food. Prost!

L: amber
S: bready, roasted grain, a hint of sweetness.
T: Malt comes with a light roast grain with moving quickly to almost syrupy sweet mid taste but is stopped just short of too sweet by a nice crisp hop finish on the herbal/grassy side of things.
F: Full and rich with a mild dry finish
O: I like it but it is almost to sweet but manages to balance out. Might be the style isn't my fav. It seems a bit boozy as it warms but the malt flavors have layers this is one to sip and not slam for me. Above average compared to other Maibocks definitely worth a try.

From the bottle, it pours a nice clear amber with a modest head. A bit of lace as you enjoy it. In the nose, it has the expected bready malt scent. In the mouth, it is the same, a nice rich maltiness with a caramel malt taste. Nice!

The aroma is spot-on; rich and bready, with just the tiniest amount of toastiness at the edges, hints of white raisins, a big wet kiss of spicy aroma hops, and a faint fresh breeze of white corn (likely DMS).

Wow, the first few sips are perfect- big, muscular but lean malt, those raisiny melanoidins asserting themselves nicely, malty start but dry finish, and a crisp smack of hop bitterness that makes you want to take another sip immediately. Deeper into the glass a nicer interplay between the spiciness of the hops and white raisin quality develops. And the malt still pops as the end approaches, while nothing ever steps out of line. I don't think I could ask for much more from a Mai Bock, except maybe another bottle.

Pours an effervescent amber with 3 fingers of pearl colored head. great lacing & slightly better than average head retention

S: Bready, grainy

T: Follows the nose, plus dryness & grassyness up front. Sweetness builds as this warms, almost honey-like, plenty dry, a little melon as well, a little white grape & pear as well. Finishes dry, crisp with bready sweetness

MF: Medium body, firm carbonation

Very much on point for the style, pretty drinkable

Maibock is my favorite beer style, so I love this time of year, and since I am such a fan of KC Bier, and their classic German brewing, I looked forward to this beer.

The beer looks like what you would expect from a Maibock. It wasn't perfectly clear, but it's a bright amber with bleach white, respectably retaining head.

The aroma is malt all the way, even grainy. I would generally expect some hint of hop aroma in a Maibock, but none is present.

The beer is exceptionally malt forward, and borders on sweet. This isn't uncommon of maibock, but generally comes with a hop bite to match. This one, with only 18 IBUs, is just a touch unbalanced towards the malty side for a Maibock in my opinion.

Overall it is a good beer, but I feel it could have been helped out by a little more hopping.

****Edit****

Just upped the score for taste and for overall. Not sure if it's a new batch, or if the hops don't do as well in the bottle... Just had one on tap at barley's, and it's infinitely better, more hop flavor and aroma.
