Edelweiss is a higher-alcohol version of Hefeweizen, our traditional unfiltered Bavarian-style wheat ale. A Silver Medal winner at the 2018 U.S. Open Beer Championship, this amber bock wheat ale has intense aromas of banana and spice, a rich, bready malt body, and hints of caramel. The name Edelweiss is a combination of the German words "Edel," meaning "noble," and Weissbier, a regional Bavarian term for Hefeweizen, or "wheat beer" in English.

Tasty, very drinkable!
Kind of sweet and malty, not much aftertaste though. I’d buy again.

L: light brown amber
S: strong clove and banana esters stronger than some hefeweiss I have had.
T: strong clove and banana up front followed by a sweet grain finishing slightly tart.
F: decidedly full and rich
O: This beer is a AMBER BOCK WHEAT ALE. It is on the bottle. It is similar to a wiessenbock but lower in alcohol and a different finish, tart not clean. That being said I love the big yeast esters of clove and banana from this beer. Definitely worth a try if you like hefeweiss. Thank you KC bier Co.

these guys do an outstanding job with the classic german styles, but they also do a nice job mixing in some fresh ideas to these styles. not sure i have seen an amber colored hefeweizen before, but here one is! pale copper in color, not as red as expected, but certainly far darker than their normal hefe, and quite robust in flavor too, its something clever but subtly so, which is just right for respecting the fundamentals of the style but for pushing it forward just enough too. its not any more malty than a classic hefe, at least in terms of heft. its just that its a little more earthy and a touch sweeter, not sure if they use a red wheat or just a bit of crystal malt, i would expect the latter, but its unclear to me here. smooth and laden with esters of this german ale yeast, heaps of ripe banana, saltwater taffy, and clove. a touch of honey, which really brings out the wheat, and then a ton of carbonation that washes it all clean and makes it refreshing. creamy almost, reserved in some ways though, a cool take on this style, and another beer i could drink at this place mug after mug. from a quality standpoint, its hard to beat!

Poured a cloudy, golden yellow color with a small, bubbly head of foam. It smelled of banana, clove and cracked wheat. Nice banana taste with some sweet wheat characteristics.
