When BKS Artisan Ales won a medal at this year's Great American Beer Festival, KC Bier Co head brewer Karlton sent his neighbor, Brian Rooney of BKS Aritisian Ales a congratulatory text message. Conversation began, and soon, a collaboration was born. Brewed and generously dry-hopped in the style of an American hazy IPA but using all-German grown malt and hops, Reinhazegebot represents the best of both breweries. It is soft and full-bodied, bursts with aromas of citrus and stonefruit, and has a moderate hop bitterness. This is like nothing you've ever had from Kansas City Bier Company.

Pours a cloudy matte drab yellow color. Thick sudsy white head forms on the beer.

Aroma has notes of spicy grassy hops, a touch of light tropical fruitiness, a subtle resin-y pine note.

Taste follows the nose with notes of tropical fruits, pine, resin, dried grass, with a light vegetal character. Doughy, biscuity malts provide the backbone. The result is a really unique tasting beer that bring the sweet NE style IPA and marries it with the spicier grassier hops.

Feel is medium to full bodied. Moderate carbonation.

Overall a very nice beer.

Pours a murky yellow-orange that leans more yellow. Head is a finger of white foam. Aroma is a blend of spicy, grassy, and citrus forward hops. It comes in a whirlwind - a blender smoothie of hops. Guava, grapefruit, and tangerine pop through for citrus, but refrain from taking the light as spicy, grassy, and resiny hops cut through the mix. Quite the whirlwind of notes, and a pleasant departure from the citrus train that is most NE IPAs. Flavor profile is grassy, spicy, lemongrass, and citrus hops. It's hoppy through and through, with the initial side coming off more German influenced - spicy and grassy hops - and the finish being a swelling water balloon of citrus. Citrus is grapefruit, melon rind, tangerine, and orange zest. Finale features some heavy settling hop grist, bringing forward all the hop notes at once, accompanied by a soft hop bite. Shift in hop dynamics is fantastic, creating some depth beyond just sweetness. Mouth feel is lightly chalky with a very fine silty texture to it. Thickness is medium. Overall, a wonderful blend of hop qualities, this NE IPA manages to create a unique profile despite the ubiquitous style.

Served in a 16oz stemless wine glass from a 12oz bottle.
