Presentation: 12 oz. can with the canning date printed on bottom. Served in a tulip glass.
Appearance: The head is very thin and goes away quickly leaving behind a thin ring and a small amount of lacing in patches all over the glass. It's a pure black color.
Smell: It's a faint, sweet scent of brown sugar, vanilla extract, caramel and molasses.
Taste: It's sweet at first with notes of vanilla, coconut and caramel and then moves towards some more bitter flavors of roasted malt, dark roasted coffee beans and charred wood. It finishes with a clean, alcohol taste.
Mouthfeel: It's soft, medium bodied and watery with low carbonation.
Overall: The scent and taste are good but they're on the softer side and a lot of the notes feel artificial. The biggest letdown is just the texture. For a barrel aged imperial stout it just lacks body and character. There's potential here though.
