The harbor area just north of Half Moon Bay sports two breweries within 100 yards of each other. More well known is the aptly named Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, but Hop Dogma is the better choice for the quality of their beers. Located in the Harbor Village shopping area, Hop Dogma sports 12-15 of their beers on tap, with cans and growlers available. The interior is spacious, and there is an outdoor patio with plenty of seating. This being the San Mateo County coast side, the vibe is laid back and relaxed. Just bring a jacket for those brisk Pacific Coast afternoons.

Nice place in Princeton with a great and varied lineup of beers. They have cans for takeout as well as growler fills.
They recently moved into their new larger taproom in the Harbor Village mall... big improvement.

Friendly locals-style brewery with a wide selection of their very good beers. No food, but you can bring in your own. A bit out of the way from the center of the Bay Area, but well worth a trip.

Super chill, great beers (sours, gose, stouts) and nice folks next to the ocean. What more could you want?

My vote for best brewery in San Mateo County. My first trip here was on a warm and clear Saturday afternoon at the coast (a rare enough event to remark on it). This brewery is in a converted Victorian house on the main drag in El Granada, just across Highway 1 from Pillar Point Harbor (where HMB Brewing is located). Been meaning to get here for a year or more, but their hours are somewhat limited. Well worth the visit, the IPAs were full bodied, dry, unapologetically dry-hopped citrus bombs, i.e. nirvana to me. Lots of other adventurous experiments listed on the blackboard, need to return soon. Place is small with a tiny bar area, but crowd was moderate and we found a table after a short time. No food served (boo) but a food truck out front (yay).

Best brewery to get a craft beer between Santa Cruz and San Francisco. Head brewers are always lingering and love to talk beer, and also very personable and nice guys. Very laid back vibe in a beautiful location. Blows HMB Brewing Company's beer quality out of the water. Anyone that enjoys beer that is created with a lot of love, MUST stop at Hop Dogma!
