Copenhagen 10/6 2019. 66 cl bottle from Høkeren. Print directly on the bottle. Old fashioned, snub-nosed Submarine in Dire waters on the bottle. Apparently named Alvin.
Pours opaque dark brown with a dark beige head. Settles as fat layer of creamy foam covering the surface of the beer clinging to the sides of the glass. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is dark, bittersweet and with a strong presence of alcohol. Toffee, brown sugar, molasses, Vanilla. Light roast. Bitter coffee, dark chocolate.
Light carbonation. Soft, smooth, viscous, fat, creamy, sticky texture.
Flavor has a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet but with a fine bitter tang.
Converts an ABV of 10,5 to pure bittersweet pleasure.

Got this one from sunnrider in a recent box. Cheers!
From a bomber into a snifter
IBU: 80
Imperial Stout with coffee beans and vanilla
APPEARANCE: Transparent black pour yields a huge, three finger, medium looking, creamy dark tan head with very good retention. Black body with no carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a full foamy cap and leaves some foamy lacing on the glass, then eventually fades to a full wisp. A slight, swirly wisp remains leaving some decent lacing down the glass.
SMELL: Lots of raw coffee beans, some vanilla and plenty or roasted and black malts on the nose. Hints of cacao and licorice in there as well, but the coffee does most of the work here. Bold and nice.
TASTE: Coffee beans, roasted and burnt malts with notes of vanilla and alcohol up front. Pretty flavorful and the beans come across as pretty raw. Big finish of raw, bitter coffee beans, burnt malts, some cacao powder and chocolate flavors, notes of vanilla cream and some alcohol. This is very flavorful and the coffee plays a mighty big role here.
PALATE: Medium-fuller body with medium levels of carbonation. A little creamy on the palate, goes down smooth enough and finishes quite sticky. A good deal of bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: This is really, really good. Lots of good coffee and roasted flavors with just enough vanilla cream to make it work. Quite bitter as well, perhaps too much so, as the IBU and the bitter coffee kind of compound themselves, but for some reason, it works really well here. A nice, full and creamy feel too that makes it drink away far too easily. Top notch stuff that can compete with any of the big boys in this category. Thanks again sunnrider. Highly recommended.
