32oz growler filled at Heinen's in Willoughby, Ohio
This beer was brewed exclusively for Heinen's. It features Mosaic and Equinox hops along with blueberries.
Growler poured into a tulip. Pours golden with a subtle haze but still has some clarity to it; fluffy white head that falls leaving great retention and sticky lacing. The aromas are great and is what you would expect from Columbus and mosaic hops. It has a nice tropical vibe with some sweet blueberries in the background. The blueberries are subtle, but noticeable. Malts are there, but the hops shine. The flavors follow the nose perfectly. The flavors have a nice amount of mango and grapefruit. There's hints of orange and lemon. It's slightly spicy. Some fresh pine and some black pepper in the mix as well. The blueberries are subtle, but are noticeable in the finish. It's slightly sweet due to the blueberries. Malts are present and do their thing, but still shine. Great hop flavor and hop bitterness, but it's ultimately bittersweet. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's fluffy and smooth. Very easy to drink.
This is a great IPA. It gets extra credit for being so unique. The addition of the blueberries takes this one to the next level despite not being overwhelming. Recommended and worth checking out if you come across it.
