Can dated 050217. Sam Adams glass.
A: pours a slightly hazy golden hue with two fingers of thick, foamy, persistent off-white head. Some lacing with very good retention.
S: very tropical and resinous new wave hoppy, sweet, with a malt presence making itself known. You can smell it as soon as you open the can.
T: tastes a lot like Thunderlips, Fist City, and Daisy Cutter. Unmistakably hoppy, right from the start. A dry and resinous, if not slightly floral arrival. Mid palate turns a little citrusy with s big and bready malt presence -malty without being sweet. Bitterness on the end is restrained, but balanced. A little on the hoppy side for an APA, but hey, it's 2017, not 1989.
M: really perfect; lighter end of midweight, higher carbonation, and quite clean, if not slightly astringent.
O: A very pleasant new age hoppy pale. Good for when you want a hoppy beer and don't want to get wrecked. My only detraction is that it is very similar to a number of others on the market; but since they're all good, and since this is a one-time brew for Columbus Craft Beer Week 2017, no harm, no foul.
