32oz growler filled at Heinen's in University Hts., Ohio
This is a "Chocolate Hazelnut Imperial Stout". Growler poured into a tulip. Pours almost black with a khaki head that falls leaving nice retention and lacing. The aromas are awesome. Lots of hazelnut, peanut butter and chocolate. The nutty characteristics really shine. Malts are there. The flavors basically follow the nose for the most part. More hazelnut, peanut butter and chocolate. It's not overly sweet at all. Subtle roasted characteristics. Malts do their thing. Alcohol goes unnoticed and is well hidden. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with moderate carbonation. This one is dangerously drinkable.
This is a great stout. The hazelnut characteristics shine. This beer is a winner. Columbus should possibly consider brewing this one again and/or bottling it, in my opinion.
