On tap at the brewpub, sampled at the tapping party (3/2007). Pours dark brown with a very thin light tan head that has gigantic bubbles. Slick lacing on the glass. The coffee aroma definitely overpowers the smokey character, but does not drown it out completely. Medium-bodied and smooth with a nice coffee flavor, along with smoked malt and caramel. Many Smoked beers taste like licking a barbecue pit but this one keeps it subtle. The finish is smoky and a bit of bitter espresso and hops aftertaste. CBC continues the practice of having much better one-offs than the usual stuff.
