Special one-off cask brought up to Buckeye Beer Engine for the CBC NE Ohio Launch Party.

Unless I am mistaken normal IPA is hopped with Columbus, Simcoe, and Amarillo. It is always dry hopped. This version was dry hopped again in the cask using Citra and Centennial.

(Let me know if this is off, Tony!)

Poured into a CBC pint. Extremely hazy - tons of hop matter and oils running around this IPA. Never a bad thing! As predicted the glass arrives with a tall sudsy head that had excellent retention. Lace smatterings were all over the glass.

Smells deliciously dank. There's a light amount of pine in the aroma. Then comes sweet pomello, tangerine, and some grassiness. I was wishing for some more citra punch, but this was tasty nonetheless.

Tastes quite bitter, actually - more than the regular IPA. Flavors of lemon, citrus pith, and grapefruit.

Creamy mouthfeel, the glass went down entirely too easily.

Overall I enjoyed this. I think the brewers were hoping for something even more punchy/different than the regular IPA, but as a quick experiment this went off well. I hope the guys at CBC do casks like this one again - double the citra addition and this would be something to truly remember! ;-)
