12 oz bottle was poured into a tulip. 2014 barrel aged version of The Mountain.

Appearance: A one finger mocha head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a pitch black color with no vision of anything. Frothy lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Vanilla, caramel, toffee, milk chocolate, oak, char, molasses, roasted, toasted, and warm boozy alcohol.

Taste: Wow. The barrel flavors have inter tangled all the Mountain flavors and balanced things out. Really smooth and delicious. Nice warm alcohol flavor too.

Mouthfeel: Silky smooth, creamy, medium to full bodied, oak, light bitterness, barrel flavor, nice warm booze, and medium carbonation.

Overall: Will have to say that I will look forward to this beer every year around their anniversary. This Mountain in rum and whiskey barrels is delicious stuff.

12oz bottle.

Pours viscous and black. A stretch-pour allowed an inch-plus of tan foam to billow up through the surface. A solid skim coat and tattered lacing for the duration.

Aromatics lead off with charred brownie batter, bakers chocolate, and black fudge drizzled with dark rum.

Full bodied with a chewy, thick mouthfeel. Crushed velvet.

Dark chocolate, espresso-soaked Oreo shells, and Kahlua start the palate. Shades of warming booze and barrel char follow through.

A lengthy finish with plenty of chocolate-steeped coffee beans and warming alcohol.

Great beer that tastes pretty peak right now. The rum barrel character adds great complexity without overpowering. Thick and viscous like a RIS should be .

This is an absolutely gorgeous beer: solid black, with a strong head of dark brown foam. Retention is decent.

Aroma is promising, with chocolate-tinged notes of roasted barley and a barrel character that is present but not overpowering.

On the palate, this is a solid enough stout, with the barrel character again coming through smoothly, but not at all strongly. There's a touch of rum, bourbon, and oak to go with roasted barley. The age may have to do with the weaker barrel notes (consumed at around 2 years old), or it could simply be the way the beer normally is.

Slightly hot; reasonably thick for a stout.

EBF sample pour. Poured a very dark color; somewhere near black. Smell is pretty impressive. Notable barrel presence along with burnt sugar, molasses, coffee and chocolate. Flavor is much of the same. A well put together Imperial Stout. Full bodied feel.

A gift from my good friend Lucas. Thank you!
Pouring a cellar temp 12 oz bottle into a snifter. The beer pours a rich dark cola brown to black hue with minimal creamy tan head that fades rapidly to a thin surface layer and minimal yet dense edge layer.
Aroma is heavy with rum and some soaked raisins and dark roasted malt, almost smokey actually. I also get some brown sugar and caramel. Definitely hints of a big beer coming in the glass.
First sip reveals a silky smooth and sticky feeling beer. Very fine and tingly carbonation that rolls softly across my palate.
Flavor is roasted malt, molasses, some rum raisins and a pretty big hit of black peppery booze. Definitely a bit of a sipping beer and if you dont like rum, this may not be for you. The finish i actually very dry and I do get a little wooden toothpick flavor at the end of each swallow.
This is a big malty beer and is perfect for a cold winters night, could split with someone and still thoroughly enjoy the effects of this tasty brew. ive never heard of the brewery nor this beer but I would recommend it if I ever saw a bottle again.
