Mixed-fermentation Ale
Inspired by champagne and brewed with New Year’s Eve in mind. Effervescent and funky with notes of chardonnay, green apple + pear. 2018 was aged on toasted oak spirals for delicate hints of vanilla and coconut. A collaboration with Barreled Souls [Saco, ME].

2015 bottle, bought from brewery, drank from a fluted wine glass in Feb, 2021. 10.5% ABV on the bottle.
Poured a gold orange hues color with some nice white head.
Smelled like water, maybe grain, but not too much there.
Taste was nothing like the description - tasted more like a quad with a little Brett tossed in. Interesting and very tasty but rather two note. Didn’t get any taste of champagne.
Feel, again, was nothing like the description - not bubbly but rather heavy. Like a quad.
Overall - the aging probably had a lot to do with this beer tasting different from the description but it was quite enjoyable nonetheless. Would like to try a fresh version.

Poured out as a dark golden color with a bit of white foam to cap it off. The smell of the beer is on the funky side, definitely resembling champagne. The taste follows the nose, there is a nice champagne-like flavor to it subtle funk notes in there as well. The feel is a little heavy and under carbed. Overall I would have liked to see this beer be a little more light bodied and effervescent but still a good beer for the style.

This is a fantastic, rare beer, you're lucky if you've picked one up. It truly is a champagne-like beer, really bubbly and funky, a great beer for a new year's day party!
