So this one says it’s with Maine-foraged spruce tips. I’ve enjoyed IPAs brews with spruce tips in the past, although sometimes they can be overpowering. So this sounded interesting. It pours an auburn brown, with almost no head right away. Has that caramel toffee aroma. Pretty nice. Taste is similar. I get some spruce tip flavor, but maybe it’s muted due to being canned six months ago. Has almost a light and sweet feel to it, instead of that usual thick, burnt toffee feel like with some other barleywines. Good overall but not a top tier barleywine.

Blood red body with off-white head. Aroma of earth, cinnamon, spices, citrus rind. Tastes of citrus rind, cinnamon and other spices, earth, booze, grassy hops. Thick, syrupy in body with light carbonation.
